The 10-day overland tour to Kailash Mansarovar is perfect for those seeking a spiritual connection, exploring historical spots, and admiring the beauty of mountains and arid landscapes. On this tour, we will pass through Kyirong (the Tibet and Nepal border) and go to the Kora of the holy Mount Kailash.
Mount Kailash, standing tall at an altitude of 6638m, is the most sacred location on Earth. It is holy not only for Hindus but also for other 3 religions/followers. Fewer pilgrims might do Kora, but it is one of the most loved and exotic locations for visits and spiritual connections. Hindus believe that Lord Shiva, his wife, the goddess Parvati, and various attendants live atop Mount Kailash. Similarly, the ancient Bon Pa religion views Mount Kailash as the spirit of Tibet, while Tibetans honor it as Kang Rimpoche (Paths of the Spirit).
Nearby Mount Kailash is Holy Lake Mansarovar, located at 4600m, one of Asia’s highest freshwater lakes. Ritual bathing in the lake is said to cleanse the soul and wash away all sins. Mount Kailash is also the source of the great rivers flowing through Asia, including Brahmaputra, Sutlej, Indus, and Karnali.
The main attraction of this tour is the circumambulation (kora) of Mt. Kailash, which starts from the Darchen and follows the Dirapuk, Drolma La Pass, and Zutulpuk. You will cross Drolma La Pass (5630m) during this tour, and from the top, your eyes will be filled with the view of beautiful Gauri Kund.
You must be physically fit to complete the yatra because it entails lengthy days of overland travel and climbing at high elevations. But we have curated the itinerary so the tour will be safe and you will get the proper acclimatization.
